Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to go next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the team enter locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.
Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
